About Rob

Early Years….

While growing up, I moved yearly between divorced parents to a different state. And, every year I attended a different school, lived in a different home in a new town, and made different friends. At 16, my faith became genuine, and at 17 I graduated high school early and joined the Navy. I spent over six months on the Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz in the most austere conditions I’ve ever faced. By the time I turned 19, I had moved 22 times, visited 5 countries, had been assigned a Secret Clearance, and worked on the first-generation F/A-18 Hornet aircraft. My experiences taught me to leverage ambiguity and discomfort, pivot to thrive, and forge deep connections with people.

Investment…

For well over 20 years, I’ve coached or advised high-performing leaders around strategy architecture and execution, innovation tools and process, personal / professional development, leadership alignment, organizational culture, change management, and fundraising. Because I know how to translate skills from institutions to individuals, I founded Tekton Advisory Group, (guiding C-suite leaders to close the gap between complexity and clarity).

Impact…

Whether architecting a robust strategic plan for a complex, global, flat and decentralized organization, or functioning as a Strategic Advisor (helping CEOs move from chaos to clarity), I’ve advised several hundred non-profit and for-profit leaders to step into the unknown future.

Passion…

I’m driven by 5 values: Stewardship, Creation, Adventure, Sacrifice and Humor, and I work best with clients who understand or share some of those values. In a world of waiting for opportunities and simply reacting to one’s environment, far too many people settle. However, the reality is that leaders can actively participate in designing the intersection between their DNA (who they are) and what brings them deep satisfaction (how they contribute). My passion is to help leaders design that intersection by seeing the things they can’t see, cutting through chaos, imagining novel possibilities, and mapping their journey to pursue passions that were once unimaginable. While I enjoy seeing institutions thrive, my true passion is through serving individuals who transform the institutions they lead.
